Very rare Greek commemorative bronze medal for surgeon Apostolos Psaltov, one of the last managers of the Greek hospital of Smyrna ( Saint Charalampos- Graikiko nosokomeio). Obv: Apost.Psaltov bust with inscription ΑΠΟΣΤ. ΨΑΛΤΩΦ ΧΕΙΡΟΥΡΓΩ ΟΙ ΣΥΝΑΔΕΛΦΟΙ ΚΑΙ ΦΙΛΟΙ ΘΑΥΜΑΣΤΑΙ 1886-1911 (to Apost.Psaltov surgeon ,the colleagues , friends and fans 1886-1911).Engraver : Π. The former Orthodox Hospital Agios Charalambos, with its chapel, like many others was destroyed in the 1922 fire. It was the biggest hospital of Smyrna with 260 beds and had a separate building serving as a lunatic asylum and a rest home for the aged people. The location of this building equates to the modern Behçet Uz Children’s Hospital stands today on Şehit Nevres street.
